It Begins With A Girl HD (Mini Documentary) from Transitions Global on Vimeo.

Produced by: Kent Truog and Alison Fahey
Directed and Edited by: Kent Truog
Music by: Robbie Reider
Special Thanks to: Steve Moorish and SISHA, the Transitions Global staff, and especially Chang Liya for her courage and her voice.

This video was shot in late 2010 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to tell the updated story of Chang Liya. Liya had done an early video in 2008, which was too emotionally heavy for public viewing. Since she first told her story in 2008, Liya has become a fully certified yoga instructor and has been to the United States, where she had the opportunity to speak to audiences about her journey in New York, Florida, Colorado, and Ohio.

This video also captured the core principles that have made the Transitions Global program such a huge success.

Kent’s dedication to documenting stories of social inequality and human rights began while attending Boston’s Emerson College, where he earned a degree in Multimedia Production in 2006.

Since then, he has partnered with nongovernmental organizations to document the stories of young women on the verge of aging out of an orphanage in Honduras, squatters struggling in an urban Indonesian dump, women in Vietnamese hill tribes, life along the Mekong River, and victims of sex trafficking in Cambodia.

His projects aim to draw attention to marginalized populations throughout the world.
